Smokin’ on the Rio is just around the corner! On February 28 and 29th, Smokin’ on the Rio contestants will be competing for the top prizes in BBQ categories!
Established in 2004, Smokin’ on the Rio is a state championship BBQ cook-off with the goal of “raising money in support of youth agricultural projects in the Rio Grande Valley.”
According to their website, Smokin’ on the Rio is “proud to have reached a level of success that has made it the largest sanctioned cook-off in Texas and the third largest sanctioned cook-off in the United States.” Smokin’ on the Rio has awarded over $1 million in scholarships to youth since its inception in 2004.
