As our technology becomes better equipped to handle more advanced actions, electric vehicles are becoming more commonplace.

But are electric vehicles reliable, safe, and worth the investment? In this article, we’ll debunk common electric vehicle (EV) concerns to see if the hype is worth it!

Electric Vehicles are Expensive

This statement is partially true. As with any new vehicle on the market, the price tag may be a bit shocking to shoppers.

However, the U.S. government and a number of states across the U.S. offer financial incentives for lowering the up-front costs of plug-in electric vehicles.

That being said, there are still plenty of options on the market for affordable EV’s, like the Ford Focus Electric, the Volkswagen e-Golf, the Fiat 500e, and the Chevrolet Volt & Bolt.

Charging is Hard to Find

This may have been true when EV’s were brand new on the market, but now that EV’s are becoming commonplace, charging stations have too. PlugShare offers a searchable map of public charging stations in your area.

In fact, public charging stations aren’t really a necessity when owners are able to charge their EV’s at home! Be sure to speak with your dealer to learn more about your EV’s specific charging equipment and how to install it properly.

Electric Vehicles Don’t Have Enough Range

The average American drives about 13,476 miles a year, which roughly translates to around 40 miles a day.

EV’s like the Ford Focus Electric offers an EPA estimated range of 115 miles. The Chevrolet Bolt EV offers an impressive 238 miles of range, comparable to the Tesla Model 3 with only an 87-mile difference.

As EV’s host better batteries and tech features, we’ll see the range increase too. Though, most common EV’s already have a decent range for everyday driving.
