Buying a new vehicle can be a tedious process that requires a lot of paperwork and time.

In order to make the process easier, here are 4 things you should never do at a dealership!

Don’t Come Without a Plan

A car dealership isn’t really a place anyone should come without a plan of action.

Whether it be purely to test-drive vehicles you’ve been researching or to ride off the lot in your dream car.

Come in with adequate research on the vehicles you want to see if you plan on test driving only. If you plan on moving forward with the buying process, be sure to have documents on what your current vehicle is worth, your downpayment, and financing/loan options.

If you feel uncomfortable at any time, it’s best to leave and come back later. You are not obligated to buy a vehicle if you don’t want to, or not ready to.

Don’t Forgo a Test Drive

If you’re considering buying a certain vehicle, one of the main things you should do before you buy is test-driving it!

Test driving a vehicle helps you see how the vehicle handles, how easy it is for you to drive and park it, technology and safety features, and much more. Be sure to drive in various situations, like expressways and roadways to see how the vehicle handles.

Doing this can reveal if the vehicle you’re interested in actually suits your needs or not.

Don’t Think You Can’t Negotiate

A big part of buying a vehicle is the negotiation process. Even if you feel like your negotiation skills aren’t up to par, it is important to set ground rules for your purchase early.

Insist on negotiating one thing at a time, starting with the price of the vehicle. Be sure you have taken into account the full price of what you’re willing to pay, including any extra options, insurance, etc.

Don’t Forget to Research, Research, Research

Buying a vehicle is a big decision to make that requires a lot of research and preparation beforehand.

Making sure you have a plan before you go into a dealership will help you immensely in the buying process. Take your time before making your final decision, and remember to explore all your options!
