National School Lunch Week was created by John F. Kennedy in 1962 to promote the importance of healthy meals for children in public school. The National School Lunch Program serves more than 30 million children in the United States every day.

In celebration of National School Lunch Week, John & Olive Hinojosa Elementary invited Payne Rio Grande City to help serve lunch to students on October 18, 2019.

Cafeteria Manager, Mrs. Karla Garza, welcomed Payne into the kitchen and explained what it took to put together a meal plan and serve the kids a healthy meal. Shortly afterward, Mrs. Garza and her staff helped set up the Payne Rio employees to have a successful lunch period.

We’d like to thank the incredible staff for allowing us to participate in National School Lunch Week!
