On Thursday, August 17 the city of Weslaco held it’s monthly event: Alfresco Weslaco. This month’s theme was Back to School.
Alfresco Weslaco is a family-friendly event that happens every month. Vendors from all over the Weslaco area attended to sell their products, food and connect with locals.
Historic Downtown Weslaco bustled with people of all ages. There was a sense of community in the air as people danced to music, walked through antique shops, and ate delicious food from all types of vendors.
The theme of this month’s Alfresco Weslaco was “Back to School.” Sponsors of this event, Payne Auto Group included, provided school supplies to Weslaco based school children. These supplies included a backpack and various other things needed to start school off with.
Throughout the night, entertainment was provided in the form of performances and music. The Weslaco High cheerleaders and the Weslaco East cheerleaders performed cheers to hype the crowd up. There was music provided by Jesse Flores and Escandalo. There were even appearances by Miss Teen Belleza Latina and Miss Belleza Latina, as well as other crowned winners such as Miss Angel of Love Pre-Teen and Miss South Texas Belle. Guests were encouraged to bring lawn chairs to camp out in front of the main stage to see all the performances.
The Payne Auto Group mingled with the crowd passing out redeemable coupons for $500 off a new car purchase or half off an oil change. The Ford F-150 Super Duty was showcased, courtesy of Payne Weslaco Ford, alongside the vintage car show behind the main stage.
