As the summer months approach and the heat reaches the triple digits, it’s time to start getting your vehicle ready for the summer.

Before you head out on a road trip with your friends or family, read these tips for preparing your vehicle for summer!

Check Your Tires

Tires can lose or gain 1 PSI for every 10 degrees difference in temperature. It’s important to check that the tire pressure is right to avoid uneven tread wear and even potential blowouts. The heat can also affect the rubber of the tires, making them expand and shrink as they heat up and cool off. Make sure your tires haven’t cracked or suffered any damage from the heat.

Check Fluid Levels

High temperatures can take a toll on the fluids in your vehicle. Some fluids you should do a routine check on are for coolant, motor oil, brake fluid, and the washer fluid. Since you’re under the hood, go ahead and check out the battery as well for any corrosion build up.

Check the A/C System

The heat can be overwhelming and uncomfortable so making sure your A/C system is top notch can keep you and your passengers happy. Be sure to check the A/C system for worn or damaged belts, make sure the condenser is clear of debris and that everything looks fine.
