What is a State Inspection?
A state inspection, or vehicle inspection, is a procedure done in which a vehicle is inspected by professionals to ensure that it conforms to regulations governing safety, emissions or both.
Texas State Inspection Requirements
When you take your vehicle to get inspected, there are a few documents you must bring:
- Proof of Insurance
- Driver’s License / Photo ID
The inspector will then go through the process of checking the vehicle out and testing/ examining various sections of the vehicle, such as:
- Horn
- Mirrors
- Tires
- Exhaust System
- All lights (headlights, taillights, turn signal lights, license plate lamp)
- Motor/ Serial/ Vehicle ID number
- Window Tint
