Getting behind the wheel of your vehicle offers a certain amount of risk.

One of these risks has to do with the roads you drive on. Whether it be poor road conditions, poor traffic control, or inadequate signage, you must stay vigilant anytime you drive.

Here are 3 of the most dangerous roads in Texas!

Interstate 35

Interstate 35 (I-35) is one of the most common north-south corridors people take to travel in Texas.

I-35 has seen 20,401 traffic accidents, 153 deaths, and 471 serious injuries in 2018 alone. This has prompted TxDOT to create the I-35 Safety Campaign, which gives drivers road condition updates, traffic camera views, and community information about I-35.

US Highway 83

US Highway 83 runs from the Oklahoma state line all the way down by the border of Mexico. This highway has the second-highest fatal crash rate in the United States across its 900-miles and averages at least 26 fatal crashes a year.

Interstate 10

I-10 runs through three of Texas’ largest cities: El Paso, San Antonio, and Houston. According to the Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis reporting system, I-10 experienced 585 fatal accidents between 2010 and 2016.
